The Face Shop - YEHWADAM Pure Brightening Serum Review

Brightening products have always been popular in skincare. For some reason, when I first started using skincare, I was under the impression that brightening meant whitening. Which it really isn't. Brightening products are focused more towards exfoliating in order to enhance the skin. Whereas whitening products include bleaching agents to remove dark spots. I'm not into using whitening products, but I am definitely interested in having brighter more youthful looking skin.

Since I don't wear a lot of makeup, brightening serums or creams kind of act like a base for my skin. I find any blemishes are sort of blurred away with the brightening products. So overall, I don't have to wear a lot of foundation.

So if you're like me, and you're more au naturel, then you might be interested in the this new product line by The Face Shop.

The Face Shop recently launched their YEHWADAM line. On their website, they currently have YEHWADAM revitalizing line which incorporates Ginseng.

Launching on October 5th, The Face Shop will be releasing their Pure Brightening line. Which focused towards brightening and anti-aging:
Specifically developed to reveal skin's brightness and radiance by reducing the appearance of pigmentations, dark spots, and dull skin tone [...] The forumula, which contains the natural ingredients of Chilbaekseolyundan*, improves the appearance of dull, pigmented skin by creating a brighter, more radiant complexion
*Chilbaekseolyundan - patented brightening ingredients formula that includes 6 pristine traditional herbs harvested in Korea.

I'm From - Gingseng Serum Review

As I've gotten older, I've begun placing importance on anti-aging products. Incorporating creams here and there. I'm really off and on with it, even though I know I should use them more often. Luckily, I don't have any wrinkles just yet, but it's never too late to start! Especially now that I'm in my late 20s. It only goes downhill from here!

Ginseng offers a lot of benefits. Aside from brightening and improving skin elasticity, it also offers nourishment for those who have dry and tired skin.

Wishtrend offered to send me their newly released Ginseng Serum from a brand called I'm From.

I've never tried any Ginseng product before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Of course one of -if not the best known Ginseng serums is Sulwhasoo's First Care Activating Serum. It's the HG for so many people! But for 60ml it's about $105 CAD + taxes. I know, it's incredibly expensive. (I ended up getting one myself, but that's another story).

This serum from I'm From is $28.80 USD for 30ml. How does it fair as a more affordable Ginseng option?

Skin18 Mask Reviews - Part 1: Mirum Green Tea & SOC Sny-Ake 3D Masks

Heya!

I can't believe it's already August! There are still so many things I haven't done yet!! Why can't it be nice and warm all year? With a slight breeze though because I don't think I could stand 30+ degree weather all year round. I get really grumpy when it's too hot out!

I'm back again. I received a bloggers pack from Skin18 for review purposes. I was sent 3 masks and an eye patch to test out.

I found out about Skin18 through instagram (basically how I've been finding out about anything new and skincare related)

I love how Skin18 focuses on skincare instead of makeup, since that's exactly how I feel.

Taken from their website:
Our mission here is to bring you products that will make you look forever 18[...] our guarantee is the ensure all products placed in our website is good for your skin
I love makeup as much as the next person, but I would rather invest the time in good skincare. Makeup is temporary, but my skin is forever. Besides, who doesn't want to forever look 18?!

All of the brands I had never tried or even heard of before, so I was super excited since I didn't know what to expect.

I've decided to break down this reviews pack into 2 parts, mainly because my reviews are rather lengthy. I didn't want you guys to get too overwhelmed. As usual, I have a summary at the end if you want the cliff notes of my thoughts.

Part 1 reviews are the Mirum Fresh Fruit Great Tea Mask and the  SOC Syn-Ake Firming and Soothing 3D Mask.

Holika Holika: Limited edition Dodo Cat Lip Tint Bar Review

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

I have a new lip review today! Another bad influence purchase courtesy of Instagram. One of the most impulsive purchases I have made in a while. I saw it on Instagram, went on eBay, bought it and then went to bed. Exactly in that order, haha.

I've actually wanted a Holika Holika lipstick for the longest time. It's just the shades they offer have never appealed to me.

But I love it for the packaging. It is cute and the lipstick is in the shape of a heart! A HEART! That and there are cats on it as well. I need it in my life.

This is a limited edition collaboration with Audrey Jeanne: Dodo Cat.

They also have a foam cleanser that is not pictured above.

I've seen lip tints becoming more popular. A lot of Korean brands have been coming out with their own dupes of the Dior Addict Lip Glow.

I've wanted to buy a Holika Holika lipstick for a while AND I've wanted to try a dupe of the Dior lip glow. So this is killing two birds with one stone!

Berrisom - My Lip Tint Pack: Virgin Red Review

Hey everyone!

I'm back with a new post. I've mentioned before how I love trying new beauty/makeup products, especially Korean brand related. The product I'll be reviewing today was from the PinkSeoul KBeauty Box I posted about last month.

This was the first product I had tried from the subscription box the day I received it. The tattoo lip tint seems to be the latest kbeauty craze. I constantly see the product all over instagram.

Description of the product taken from Memebox:
Berrisom's Oops my lip tint pack is one of the hippest lip makeup in Korea [...] It's a peel-off type of pack that leaves vibrant colour that lasts for over 12 hours without smearing or fading.
The colour I received was Virgin Red which is quite bright. I've seen other brand lip tints and the tint once peeled off is quite subtle, but testing this on my hand, I knew Berrisom lip tint would not be the same. The colour packs a punch. Definitely a very vibrant red.

We'll see how this one faired!

PinkSeoul - March K-Beauty Subscription Box Unboxing!

Hey everyone!

As you know, I'm slightly K-Beauty obsessed. I say slightly, because it doesn't make me feel as bad when I spend money on skincare items. I'm only SLIGHTLY obsessed OK?!

Even though I've been using Korean skincare items for over 2 years, I'm no closer to finding my holy grail products and I still feel like I'm a K-Beauty noob.

I love purchasing specialty/subscription boxes, even value sets because it gives me a chance to try out products I never would have purchased myself. I was quite saddened when Memebox stopped shipping internationally, as it no longer gave me the opportunity to try new products, or feed my K-Beauty addiction.

But I am happy to report, I have found another subscription box! I present you, newly launched, PinkSeoul!

I was on the fence whether to try them, and PinkSeoul was kind enough to send me a coupon for my first order! Let me tell you, I already can't wait for their second box!

Laneige Water Bank Serum Review - New Winter Must Have!

*pokes head out from rock* Well hey there....

I know I have been MIA from this blog for many months. I am afraid I lost a bit of motivation and creative juices to continue posting reviews. Not to say that I have stopped with my skincare or makeup purchases, I have continued to explore and try new products.
But good news, I graduated University in April and moved out to start working in May right after. I have been settling into my job quite well and I have begun writing up posts once again. I am hoping to release new content for this blog.

For my new post, I am so happy and lucky to have been chosen by Influenster* to review the Laneige Water Bank Serum!

The serum is not new, but it is newly launched as Sephora! So for all you Laneige enthusiasts in Canada, no need to order online from overseas sellers anymore. Laneige skincare (along with their famed BB cushion) are now available in Sephora stores! Unfortunately, their makeup range has yet to be released. So for the time being, I can only lust after their lipsticks from afar.
I have been eyeing this product for years and have been lusting to try it, but since my attention span is rather fleeting, I always get caught up in another product.
But let us take a further look into this serum...

KOSE- Softymo Speedy Cleansing Foam Review

Hello everyone!

How are your New Years Resolutions coming along? I didn't really make any, since I knew I would break them almost immediately. I did tell myself I would try waking up and going to sleep earlier. I have failed. But I am keeping up with writing down everything I need to do for the day or the next day. It helps me stay organized.

Anyway, I'm reviewing a cleanser today. I haven't found one that I've liked enough to stick with. But so far with this one, I like it enough that I may repurchase after it's finished.
I usually use a gentle cleanser for the morning and a gentle exfoliating facial cleanser for the evening.

I really enjoy using Japanese skincare products. Kose is quite popular in Japan and Softymo is quite affordable.
Back in High School I used their oil based cleanser, which I didn't like at the time, but I am looking to repurchase in the future.

Let's take a closer look!

Memebox: Superbox #46 IOPE Box 1 Unboxing

I'm developing a problem you guys... I have Memebox acquisition syndrome. I can't stop buying these boxes!

I'm eyeing the Lipstick Superbox right now. I received an email a couple weeks back from Memebox, asking me to take a survey for them. A few of my suggestions included an all IOPE box and all lipstick or lips box. BEHOLD!! Memebox answered and here I am throwing my money at the screen.

I purchased IOPE Box 1 instead of the 2nd one, because I already have their BB Cushion. Also the shade would have been too light for my skin. Back in high school, I purchased a lighter colours shade once... it was not a good time.

But anyway, let's take a look at what I received!

Sasa, The Face Shop and Bath and Body Works Candle Haul

Hello everyone!

I just moved into my summer workplace, and I didn't have internet for a week, so I couldn't post last Sunday. I also didn't have water for a couple days... really makes you appreciate the little things.
But anyway, I am back with internet!

When I was packing for my move, I tried to stock up on as much as I could. My second suitcase is filled with my backups. 4 boxes of The Face Shop cotton pads, night creams, day creams, serums, so much! I'm surprised I managed to fit as much as I did.

The few things I bought/ordered:

Beyond - Cream Puff - Rice Milk Foam Cleanser review

I had never heard of Beyond, which is a Korean skincare company until I saw the products being sold. The brand was established in 2005, so it is relatively new and somewhat unknown.
In Korea, the brand is just referred to as "Beyond". But in North America, it is, "Beyond Fruits & Passion", Fruits & Passion was the store I purchased it from. Though it has since closed down and The Face Shop opened in its place. (no complaints there!)

But since I always have my eye out for Korean skincare/cosmetics, I opted to try this out. I have cleansers already, but really, more the merrier... right?

I went with the Rice Milk Foam cleanser as it advertised in big letters, "Rice smoothes and relaxes your stressed skin"
As a student, anything that claims to relax stressed skin is something I want! Get it on my face!! De-stress me please!

Let's see if it actually does what it claims
