I'm From - Gingseng Serum Review

As I've gotten older, I've begun placing importance on anti-aging products. Incorporating creams here and there. I'm really off and on with it, even though I know I should use them more often. Luckily, I don't have any wrinkles just yet, but it's never too late to start! Especially now that I'm in my late 20s. It only goes downhill from here!

Ginseng offers a lot of benefits. Aside from brightening and improving skin elasticity, it also offers nourishment for those who have dry and tired skin.

Wishtrend offered to send me their newly released Ginseng Serum from a brand called I'm From.

I've never tried any Ginseng product before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Of course one of -if not the best known Ginseng serums is Sulwhasoo's First Care Activating Serum. It's the HG for so many people! But for 60ml it's about $105 CAD + taxes. I know, it's incredibly expensive. (I ended up getting one myself, but that's another story).

This serum from I'm From is $28.80 USD for 30ml. How does it fair as a more affordable Ginseng option?

Taken from the Wishtrend website:
Formulated with 7.98% concentrated ginseng extract, the Ginseng Serum is designed to naturally enhance blood circulation to make your complexion look more lively while replenishing the necessary nourishments for healthier, younger skin. Tired of losing elasticity in your skin? Give your skin the energy boost it needs with the Ginseng Serum.

Packaging
I quite like the simple packaging. The bottle is heavy and feels luxurious. I have no qualms with the packaging. The dropper does a good job as well.

Product
Firstly, let's talk about the scent. I hate it. I've read other reviewers say they found the scent to be floral. For me, the scent reminds me of Chinese medicine. Which makes sense since a lot of Chinese medicine contains ginseng. Personally, I find the scent a little too strong. It also didn't help that the scent lingered for a while after application.

The serum isn't too thick and my skin absorbed it easily. It didn't feel heavy on my skin, but it did dry tacky.

I used this everyday for a couple weeks during my morning and night routine. I'm From does recommend you use it morning and night for the best results. Honestly, while my complexion did look slightly better, overall I didn't feel like it did much for my skin. The serum claimed to do a lot, but my skin didn't benefit from it. I was a little disappointed.

It's recommended for those with dry skin as well. But even then I didn't find the serum overly nourishing.

Overall Thoughts
I had high expectations for this serum and unfortunately it was disappointing how little it did for my skin. I'm actually using another Ginseng serum that my skin is liking a lot more.

I'm sure the serum could be more effective for someone else, but it I saw no major change for me to want to continue using this. Not to mention the scent is way to overwhelming for me to use as well.

This is available on Wishtrend for $28.80 USD.

Have you tried using any products that have Ginseng?

Summary

The Good
  • Affordable
The Bad
  • Strong scent (medicinal)
  • Leaves the skin feeling a little tacky
  • No major difference in the skin
*This product was provided to me complimentary by Wishtrend in exchange for my honest review.. My opinion is my own and it is in no way influenced.
