Berrisom - Oops My Ice Bar For Lips Review

You know, I've gotten rather lazy when it comes to wearing lip products. I mean, aside from lip balm, all of my lipsticks have been sitting in my dresser collecting dust. I even have a couple on my desk at work and I STILL don't reach for them!

So it's been a while since I've been excited over a lip product.

Spoiler alert: I'm in love with this lip stick/tint and I've been wearing it everyday since I got it!

The newly released Oops My Ice Bar For Lips!

Taken from the Berrisom website:
Water base formula containing 40% moisture base. Moisturizing and pigmented
They come in 4 different colours. I have 09. Peach Jellypop which is a coral shade.

The ingredients list sounds great as well. It particularly contains milk proteins and plant-based moisturizing ingredients (from green tea, peach, lily, sunflower, witch hazel, etc) which is supposed to provide moisture for the lips.

And in line with the 'ice bar' it is recommended to store this in cool areas as it is heat sensitive and can melt!

Packaging

I have to say, the packaging is really cute. Basically looks just like a marker. You know, those crayola ones we used to use as kids? It reminds me of those.

For the product to come out it's not the usual twist top, but instead you click the button on the bottom of the tube.

Important to note, the lip stick cannot retract so don't go overboard with the clicking! I know you want to, but don't do it! Luckily every click only pushes out 1.1mm of the product so you'll never have to worry about wastage. The website recommends to only click 2 to 3 times for the optimum amount of product.

The ice bar has a slanted tip which is supposed to allow easier and cleaner application on the lips. The slanted tip isn't anything new as most lip products have that.

Application

The application is quite nice. It's not a creamy consistency, bit more like a moisturizing balm tint.

I like to apply a thin coat as I tend to favour the more natural look; but the colour can definitely be built up the more coats you apply.

It's definitely moisturizing on its own, but since I want to tone down the colour some more, I apply some Rosebud lip salve over top. I feel like it tones down the colour and provides a nice shine on my lips too. One of the other reasons I put lip balm on after is that the product on its own is a little tacky. When I pressed my lips together, they did lightly stick to each other. The picture above is just on its

Even though it looks like a tint, it doesn't last that long. It has the wear time of any typical lipstick or lip bar out there.

I would definitely recommend exfoliating your lips regularly as well. While it doesn't sink into any lines, it does stick to dry skin and makes certain areas look patchy.

Another thing I have found is while it fades with dignity, it flakes off. At work I have a tube of Rosebud salve that I use. I apply lip balm over top of the ice bar and I find the applicator has a bunch of colour that has flaked off.

Granted, worse case scenario it could be my dead skin instead (which would be so gross!) But I find it odd that it only happens when I'm using this product. Either way, it can be annoying because I'm constantly cleaning my lip balm applicator. I found the flaking wasn't as bad if I put on some lip balm before this.

Overall thoughts

I've been really enjoying this ice bar! It feels great on the lips and it provides a nice pop of colour.

While it certainly is moisturizing, I haven't substituted this over lip balm. But rest assured, you don't have to worry about your lips drying out throughout the day.

Oh, and important to mention, there's no scent and no taste! I don't mind scented products as long as they're not too heavy. But I HATE a lip product that is flavoured. I have a few Holika Holika lip balms I've had to toss because they taste sweet.

The ice bar is really decently priced as well. Berrisom currently has it on sale, 1 + 1 for $20.30 USD. It can also be found on ebay for $10 CAD.
